Meg Poterba is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker at the Boston Child Study Center, where she specializes in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), including DBT-Prolonged Exposure (DBT-PE), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), and executive function coaching for youth and young adults. She is passionate about trauma-informed care and helping clients build skills to navigate complex emotional and cognitive challenges.
Meg earned her B.A. from Middlebury College and her Master of Social Work from Boston College. She began her clinical training at the McLean-Franciscan Child and Adolescent Inpatient Program, working with a multidisciplinary team to stabilize children and adolescents in acute psychiatric crises. She also has extensive community-based experience through her work at Wayside Youth and Family Support Network, where she co-led a high school peer leadership program and provided case management to help families access social services.
Prior to her clinical career, Meg was a middle school science teacher and has more than a decade of experience as a summer camp counselor and director. These roles continue to shape how she connects with young people and inform her approach to designing innovative programs that fill gaps in mental health care. As Director of Executive Functioning Services at BCSC, she integrates evidence-based interventions with a developmentally attuned, skills-focused approach to help clients build sustainable strategies that fit their lives. She is especially passionate about supporting individuals with ADHD, particularly those navigating a late diagnosis, and channels her experience into leading therapeutic summer programs and creative initiatives that engage youth in meaningful ways.
