Individualized Intensive Outpatient Services
For individuals navigating complex or high-acuity challenges, our team creates structured, flexible treatment plans through our Individualized Intensive Outpatient Program (I-IOP) or Individualized Partial Hospitalization Program (I-PHP), providing more intensive support while allowing clients to continue living at home.
How It Works:
Our I-IOP/I-PHP options provide flexible and individualized intensive treatment for children, adolescents, and young adults who are struggling with multiple or complex mental health challenges. As a multidisciplinary clinic, we can create treatment plans tailored to each client’s needs and provide a range of supports to bridge the gap between residential/day treatment programs and traditional outpatient therapy. Our program is not group-based; rather, it is designed to give clients the support and skills they need in a highly individualized and intensive format while living at home.

Frequently Asked Questions:
How is BCSC's I-IOP/I-PHP different from a traditional IOP or PHP program?
Traditional IOP and PHP programs are group-based and operate on a rolling schedule, with clients transitioning in and out of care at any time. Groups run the same sessions week after week. Upon admission, you begin working with a new IOP or PHP team of providers, and when you discharge, you transition to another team at a new program or clinic.
Our I-IOP and I-PHP programming allows you to continue working with your current outpatient team throughout intensive treatment. Upon stepping down from intensive programming, you can continue with your BCSC treatment team (individual therapist, caregiver coach, etc.) at the outpatient level of care, reducing unnecessary transitions.
What is the difference between I-IOP and I-PHP?
Both I-IOP and I-PHP provide individualized, intensive outpatient care. The primary difference is the frequency and duration of services.
I-IOP is designed for individuals who need more structure and support than traditional weekly outpatient therapy, but do not require full-day treatment. Services may occur multiple times per week, with a combination of individual therapy, parent/caregiver coaching, skills coaching, and other supports.
I-PHP offers a higher frequency of care, with longer or more frequent treatment days when additional stabilization and daily support are needed. This level of care can help prevent symptoms from worsening while allowing individuals to continue living at home.
How long does an I-IOP or I-PHP typically last?
Because our I-IOP/I-PHP services are fully individualized, there is no predetermined length of treatment. The duration depends on each individual’s needs and treatment goals.
Most individuals participate in I-PHP for approximately 1–2 weeks, with the option to step down to a less frequent I-IOP schedule or traditional outpatient therapy as stability improves. The length of I-IOP varies and is determined collaboratively based on progress toward treatment goals.
Is this a structured day program or group-based program?
No. Our I-IOP/I-PHP services are not preset, group-based day programs. Treatment is individualized and may include a combination of individual therapy, caregiver coaching, skills coaching, family therapy, and other supports based on clinical need.
Who is a good fit for I-IOP/I-PHP?
These services are appropriate for individuals who need more support than weekly outpatient therapy but do not require residential treatment. This may include those experiencing significant emotional dysregulation, school avoidance, escalating anxiety or mood symptoms, or difficulty functioning across home and school settings.
How is treatment progress monitored?
Your multidisciplinary team meets weekly with you and your family to coordinate care and monitor progress. We also use a measurement-based care platform to track symptoms, functioning, and treatment response over time. Treatment intensity can be adjusted as needed based on your goals, progress, and evolving clinical needs.
